Even during the colder months, most of us enjoy having parks and trails nearby when we need to get outside to walk the dog or take a break from work. Luckily, when you live at the Flats at Spring Mill Station in Westfield, Indiana, you have access to a number of community parks, playgrounds, and trails that are five minutes or less from your apartment.
Centennial Park
The Centennial neighborhood playground is located off of Bucksport Lane, about a 3-minute drive from the Flats at Spring Mill Station. Less than half a mile from the playground, you’ll also find the Centennial sledding hill between Liberty and Pawtucket Drive– terrific for winter tubing and sledding fun!
Armstong Park
Located on Countryside Blvd., Armstrong Park is also just a quick three minutes from The Flats at Spring Mill Station. The park sits on 15 acres and offers paved trails, benches, and a dog waste station for those with pets.
Maple Knoll Playground
Just off of Burgess Hill Path three minutes from the Flats at Spring Mill, this is another small community playground, but it’s nestled among a number of paved paths, making it a convenient choice for walking and cycling.
Liberty Park and Richardson Wetlands
This location is five minutes east by car of the Flats at Spring Mill Station at the corner of 161st Street and South Union, adjacent to Cool Creek. This “passive” parkland features a boardwalk and observation deck overlooking the wooded wetlands, and access to the Natalie Wheeler trail, located across the street. You’ll also find a gazebo constructed with materials reclaimed from a nearby 1830s barn.
Viking Meadows Playground
Five minutes away from the Flats at Spring Mill Station, you’ll find this quiet playground in the Viking Meadows neighborhood. With a paved path connecting to the Monon Trail, it’s a convenient place to park for your daily walk or ride.
Osborne Park
Located on Ditch Road and 171st Street, Osborne Park is a quick 5-minute drive from the Flats at Spring Mill Station apartments. Because it sits on 30 acres, there’s also plenty of room to kick a ball or throw a frisbee. And according to the City of Westfield, future capital improvement plans for this location include a dog park, community fishing pond, playground, and paved paths for foot and bicycle traffic.
